Here are the Extension related podcasts that I’ve been able to find via iTunes. The number seems to have risen in the last few weeks.
-New Mexico State Foodstuff – short broadcast on food issues.
-Iowa State University Daily News, Market News, and Mid-day Weather. I have not listened to these yet.
-UMass Extension Fruit Specialist. I have not listened yet.
-University of California – Let’s Talk (on my iPod for later this week).
-Texas A&M Ag News Weekly – agricutlure focused radio show. Claims to be first Extension podcast.
-University of Illinios Closing Market Report; Commodity Week – production quality radio show.
Implications: I think podcasts are here for a while (see this post from July). I’m not sure how they will shuffle out, but I can see some uses for Extension Professionals. Among them:
- a way to distribute news pieces. Just like written text updates via RSS – same idea.
- local educators can download pieces as needed. Or anyone anywhere.
- specialization news casts from various states can be easily shared.
- local educators can upload broadcasts that can be shared
